Sharon has been working in Early Years Education for over 25 years. She began her teaching career at ‘Thomas’ Kindergarten, in Chelsea, London, after graduating with honours from the St. Nicholas Montessori College in South Kensington, London. Prior to being an Early Years Educator, she studied Theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles and at the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York. She worked as an actress before leaving entertainment for a less nomadic lifestyle. After teaching in London for a year she returned to Vancouver and began working as a Montessori teacher. She also studied at Capilano University and gained her diploma in ECE.
In 2003 she opened her own Montessori and creative arts school in the West Point Grey neighbourhood, which she ran successfully for 11 years before moving to Spain with her then 14-year-old daughter, for a sabbatical. She has taught internationally since 1997 but settled back in Vancouver in 2017 where she continued to help design programs and work as an ECE/Montessori director.
Sharon brings to KEY a wealth of experience and a true passion for teaching. She believes that every child learns through exploration coupled with a prepared environment, that encourages creativity, critical thinking and inquiry. She uses her experience with Montessori, Reggio and inquiry-based learning to bring the classroom to life, and to guide children toward a true love of learning that provides them with the confidence to become global citizens of the world.
